Driver Safety Course
Do not take the driver safety course before contacting the court. If you are interested in taking the drivers safety course to have your citation dismissed, you must contact the court to request this. Not all violations are eligible for this dismissal. Contact the court to see if you meet the eligibility requirements. A request for the DSC is to be done on or before your scheduled court date. The fee for the DSC request is $144.00. Upon approval to take the DSC, you will have 90 days to complete the course. Once successfully completed, you will receive a “Certificate of Completion”. The Certificate must be returned to the court to show compliance to the DSC agreement on or before the due date. You will also be required to submit a Type 3 A Driving record. If you satisfactorily complete the DSC and submit the required document to the court (Certificate of Completing & Type 3A Driving Record), the violation will be dismissed and not affect your driving record.
If you are interested in taking a Driving Safety Course to have your citation dismissed, you must meet the following requirements:
o You must have a valid Texas driver’s license or be active duty military personnel, including spouses and dependent children, with a current, valid military ID (You ARE NOT eligible if you have a CDL)
o You must have motor vehicle insurance
o You may NOT have taken a DSC within the previous 12 months
o The violation was not committed in a construction zone when workers were present
o Alleged speed cannot be 25 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit
If you do not comply you will be fined in the amount of $200.00 and you will be expected to explain to the court why you failed to comply. You will be scheduled a Show Cause hearing. If you fail to appear for the Show Cause hearing, you will be issued a warrant for your arrest. Again, it is your responsibility to notify the court with any changes to your contact information.
How to Request the Driver Safety Course
You can request this option in person during our regular business hours, by mail or by email. Please include the following with your request in writing:
• Your plea of no contest or guilty
• Indicate your request for a drivers safety course
• Include a copy of your Texas driver’s license
• Include a copy of your liability insurance showing you are insured under the policy
• Include your citation number
• Include your name, address and phone number
How to Pay for your Driver Safety Course Request
Make check or money order payable to the Town of Hollywood Park. No cash will be received by mail. (see General Information for more info) When paying online, make sure you are paying the exact amount. The court will respond by mail or email with an agreement that will indicate the conditions of your driver safety court request. You must sign it and return it to the court in order for it to be valid. It is your responsibility to follow up with the court.
