Meet our Chief of Police – Shad Prichard

Chief Prichard hails from west Texas, mainly the Odessa/Midland area.  After completing the law enforcement academy Chief served as an officer in West Texas.  Wanting to serve his country Chief Prichard decided to join the military in 1997 and was accepted in the Military Intelligence Corps as a Counterintelligence (CI) Special Agent.   During his active-duty service, Chief Prichard served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Field Office Southwest Asia in Kuwait, NATO support during peace keeping missions in Bosnia/Kosovo and later deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he conducted counterintelligence operations.

His last military assignment brought him to San Antonio where he was the security manager (S2) for a signals and intelligence site who provided support to the National Security Agency (NSA) and joint operations around the world.  At the end of his tour of duty, Chief Prichard was the recipient of over 23 awards and accommodations to include the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM), Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal (MOVSM), four Accommodation medals (ARCOM) , three Army Achievement Medals (AAM) along with numerous operation and unit citations.

After his military service Chief Prichard continued his law enforcement career and has served in some of the most challenging assignments.  Starting out as a patrol officer and eventually working in police administration then promoting to patrol sergeant and eventually patrol commander.  Chief later moved onto Criminal Investigations where he was the commander as well as overseeing court security and warrant operations.

In 2013 Shad was selected to be the next Chief of Police for the Town of Hollywood Park and continues in this role today.

Along with his law enforcement and military experience, Chief Prichard holds a degree in criminal justice as well as a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Chief Prichard is the recipient of the VFW Law Enforcement Gold Medal Award for the State of Texas and Academic Achievement Recognition from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Chief Prichard has also held numerous leadership positions in the community to include being a board member of the Salvation Army and past Vice-Commander of VFW Post 688 and is the current President of the Alamo Area Police Chief’s Association.

Chief Prichard is an avid animal lover and has several rescue dogs in his household.  Chief Prichard is married to his wife Amy and together they have two daughters.

“It’s a great day to be in Hollywood Park” – Chief Prichard

Message from the Chief:

“Serving in the Town of Hollywood Park is truly a unique experience as an officer.  We enjoy incredible support from our community and even though we are surrounded by the 4th largest city in Texas, you can’t help but feel you are part of a tight net community who work hard to preserve the beauty and sanctity of this quaint town.

Hollywood Park was recently named the safest city in Bexar County out of 22 other municipalities in the area.  This is a direct reflection of the commitment the officers have for the safety of this town, however, I think it also speaks volumes about the quality of the citizens of Hollywood Park and the partnership we enjoy with the residents.

Officers around the nation are going through a tough time right now however I will share that it’s always been a tough assignment to be a peace officer.  The late Paul Harvey said it best when he stated “The policeman must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat, a tough guy and a gentleman.  And of course, he’ll have to be a genius…for he will have to feed a family on a policeman’s salary”. Paul Harvey should know, his father was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty when he was just 3 years old.

Being an officer is also being a part of a brotherhood like no other.  You are a member of the thin blue line who are the protectors of the law abiding citizens from would be criminals.  We are the blue line that proudly stands between our residents, and the violence and victimization by criminals.

So from the men and women of the Hollywood Park Police Department I welcome you to our page and know that we are here to serve with integrity and compassion and take pride in our profession.”
