Meet our Chief of Police – Shad Prichard

Chief Shad Prichard has served as the Chief of Police for the Town of Hollywood Park since 2013, bringing over two decades of combined military and law enforcement expertise to the role. A west Texas native, Chief Prichard began his career in local law enforcement before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1997. As a Counterintelligence Special Agent, he led high-stakes operations across Southwest Asia, Bosnia, and Kosovo, and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom following 9/11.

His distinguished military career concluded in San Antonio, where he managed security for a joint-service intelligence site supporting the NSA. Throughout his service, he earned 23 awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal. In the civilian sector, he rose through the ranks from patrol officer to commander of Criminal Investigations before taking the helm in Hollywood Park.

A graduate in Criminal Justice and a Master Peace Officer, Chief Prichard is a recognized leader in the Texas law enforcement community. He is the past President and current advisor to the Alamo Area Police Chief’s Association and a recipient of the VFW Law Enforcement Gold Medal Award. Off-duty, he is an avid animal advocate and lives in San Antonio with his wife, Amy, their two daughters, and several rescue dogs.

Message from the Chief:

“Serving in the Town of Hollywood Park is truly a unique experience as an officer.  We enjoy incredible support from our community and even though we are surrounded by the 4^th largest city in Texas, you can’t help but feel you are part of a tight net community who work hard to preserve the beauty and sanctity of this quaint town.

Hollywood Park was recently named the safest city in Bexar County out of 22 other municipalities in the area.  This is a direct reflection of the commitment the officers have for the safety of this town, however, I think it also speaks volumes about the quality of the citizens of Hollywood Park and the partnership we enjoy with the residents.

Officers around the nation are going through a tough time right now however I will share that it’s always been a tough assignment to be a peace officer.  The late Paul Harvey said it best when he stated “The policeman must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat, a tough guy and a gentleman.  And of course, he’ll have to be a genius…for he will have to feed a family on a policeman’s salary”. Paul Harvey should know, his father was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty when he was just 3 years old.

Being an officer is also being a part of a brotherhood like no other.  You are a member of the thin blue line who are the protectors of the law abiding citizens from would be criminals.  We are the blue line that proudly stands between our residents, and the violence and victimization by criminals.
